Communication Areas of Improvement

Identify THREE areas of communication you’d like to improve (Examples: I have
trouble saying no, I don’t assert myself, I tend to be sarcastic.) Then choose someone
who demonstrates the behavior you’d like to have, specify the behaviors and explain
how you could apply them. Please type and turn in professional looking copies on the
assigned date.

Example:
1.        Area of communication: Initiate conversations with people I’ve just met
2.        Model who demonstrates the behavior: My friend Bob
3.        Model’s behavior: He smiles at them, compliments them sincerely, asks
        questions about their interests, finds things he has in common with them and
        focuses on those topics
4.        How could you apply the behaviors? I could think more about the people I
        just met rather than on my own nervousness, I could ask a lot of questions,    
       focus on what interests me and the topics I know about. I could read the paper
        and watch the news for topics to bring up that they might be interested in.
